give me five!

the GM had this on her blog, i thought it was interesting, so i'm giving it a shot. it's a meme where someone gives you 5 words to write about. she got her 5 from a fellow blogger and she wrote this. i asked her for my 5, and boy did i get them! here goes nothin'

Awesome: is it a state of mind? part of me likes to think so, but then it just becomes less itself (awesome.) if it's a state of mind, then ANYONE could be awesome...i'm awesome...but i know people who are not awesome, in fact i know people who could NEVER be awesome. most of the people i surround myself with are awesome - who wants to be around those non-awesome people? maybe we are born into awesome. maybe awesome is born into us...the most impressive people of all are brought up in the most non-awesome of situations and excel in awesomeness...those are the heros of us average awesome people. it's easy to absorb the awesome if you are showered with it. it's really hard to create it and cherish it and use it and project it on your own.

Protocol: i looked up this word, it turns out the meaning i am most familiar with is the 3rd on the list! an original record or draft is the first meaning at merriam-webster.com. it's crazy how words can adopt different meanings throughout time. or how certain words can become obsolete. supper, anyone? to me, protocol is more of a military thing - to follow a set of rules in order for everything to stay on track and not become FUBAR...one of the many reasons i am not in the military. the closest thing i have to a protocol is feeding my cats in the morning and the evening...that way they remain happy and fat :) it was protocol not to call the GM after 9PM and defiantly not during Homicide Life on the Streets or NYPD Blue...and of course, Never Take the Last One.

Practice: living proof that it makes perfect...i never did.

Theater: it's life, we live it every day. little acts all day long. characters entering and exiting our personal stage. the same thing over and over, day after day. only, we rarely get applause when the curtain goes down each night. we do it because there is nothing else. we do it because we love the players, maybe because we hate the players. we do it because we are afraid of the darkness that waits for us when all is said and done....(that entry was HIGH THEATRE ;) !!!

Faker: survivor. ask any creature in the animal kingdom!

ok - if anyone of the 2 people that read this want words, ask. and i shall give!

mad max anyone?

GREETINGS FROM THE HUMUNGUS! THE LORD HUMUNGUS! THE WARRIOR OF THE WASTELAND! THE AYATOLLAH OF ROCK AND ROLLA!

so, i sat through all three MAD MAX movies last night. it started at 8PM, i was in my car headed home at 2:13AM....it was pretty awesome. i think those movies are like most super famous trilogies. the first one is good, in the second everything falls into place, and it sets the bar super high for itself. then they cast tina turner in the last one, have a directing scandal, Max gets taken to an ewok village and the whole damed thing falls apart....

WELCOME TO ANOTHER EDITION OF THUNDERDOME!

well, here's a quote from the first one, since i've done the other two - i want to be fair :)
I AM THE NIGHTRIDER! I'M A FUEL INJECTED SUICIDE MACHINE! I AM THE ROCKER, I AM THE ROLLER, I AM THE OUT OF CONTROLLER!

anyone else?

i thought ms. franklin kinda sucked...anyone else? i think mary j. would have been better! i loved yoyo! holy crap, that man can make a cello talk, it's incredible :)
our new president didn't pull any punches. i liked his speech and i like, i've always liked him. i've just never appreciated the rock star energy people put into him. but maybe i should see it as refreshing instead of annoying? heck i voted for the guy, and i support him, and i'm excited for the next 4 years. i truly hope it's better than the last 8.

not for me...thanks anyway

i can't think of any place i'd rather not be right now than washington d.c. holy crap! i hate crowds, and this might be the biggest anywhere in the U.S. in a long time. take a moment to read this article on slate....any questions?!? yuck!
good luck mr. pres. i hope you live up to your promises. so far you don't have to do anything to instill hope and optimism in about half the country...i'm looking forward to seeing how you put that power into practice :)

TAG - i'm it?

ok, GM you tagged me...so i'll do the questions. anyone else that reads this sweet page - kathrine maybe? can certainly consider themselves tagged too.

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

My six:
1.) i just found out i have IBS...well, formally i guess

2.) i don't work nearly as hard as i should at my job...

3.) i try to see both sides to arguments, and i try to be level headed about people's problems. but when i have my own problems...it's not that way....do as i say - not as i do!

4.) i think that because my brother is marrying a german girl, that i will - in turn - be german.

5.) i didn't think VALKYRIE was that bad...a guy at work wants to see it dubbed in german, i think that is a really stupid idea.

6.)i'm beginning to actually like los angeles...

the above rules really don't apply to my blog. but if you're reading, you're tagged. let me know if you do the 6...

happy new year!

vote

i voted this morning. since i live in CA i know my vote for president is already taken care of for me. but we had sooooo many state and local measures to vote on, it was super important for me and everyone else in the state to get out there and do it. we had 12 state measures and 6 or 7 local things. ridiculous! but it's done now, and i only really care about one of the measures. so that made it a little easier. i mean, i voted on each one, and have an opinion on each one, but i only really care about one of them....number 8! no no no no......
